Maw: het budget voor de ontwikkelingslanden tegen de opwarming van de aarde is 1/300ste van hetgeen dat nu nog naar de oorlog in Afganistan gaat. De gazetten spreken dan van “een positieve noot”, idd: peanuts.
I am a big believer in technology and I’m a big believer in openness when it comes to the flow of information. I think that the more freely information flows, the stronger the society becomes, because then citizens of countries around the world can hold their own governments accountable. They can begin to think for themselves. That generates new ideas. It encourages creativity. And so I’ve always been a strong supporter of open Internet use. I’m a big supporter of non-censorship. Alles wordt de dag van vandaag wetenschappelijk onderzocht. Zo ook of er een verband bestaat tussen het stemgedrag van mensen die slordig zijn, en dat van mensen die 4 maal in de week dweilen, stofzuigen en het gras afmaaien. “The Journal of Political Psychology” constateerde dat liberalen, die normaal als “open” worden beschouwd, neigen meer kleurrijk te zijn, en hun kasten te vullen met boeken over reizen, etniciteit, feminisme, en muziek, samen met cd’s in de genres folk, klassieke - en moderne rock, alsook met kunst, filmtickets en vakantiesouveniers. Conservatieven daarentegen, omringen zichzelf met kalenders, postzegels, wasmanden, strijkijzers, en naaimachines. Hun slaapkamers en werkplaatsen zijn goed verlicht en gevuld met sport-parafernalia. Dit komt volgens de studie omdat conservatieven nood hebben aan orde; dat alles op z’n plaats ligt en georganiseerd is, zodat de persoon het gevoel krijgt dat z’n omgeving voorspelbaar en daardoor als veilig kan worden beschouwd.
Aan de ogenschijnlijk niet onbelangrijke documenten die kriskras op m’n bureau liggen te zien, kan ik de studie enkel maar gelijk geven. En ja, ik hou ook filmtickets bij (en die van Kinepolis zijn gedrukt met thermische printers waardoor de tekst erop snel verdwijnt, grmbl).
Hoe zou het nog zijn met de mensen in Florida?
En met hun president op de Olympische Spelen?
